I kind of hate sleeping in hotel rooms.
Don’t get me wrong, my mattress at home is not the most comfortable thing by any stretch of the imagination. But it’s my bed. In my space.
I spent last night tossing and turning in what was a comfortable bed. And all I really wanted was to snuggle my Pinkie Pie stuffie, but I’d left her at home. (Bad move, I know.) Anyway, I woke up for the last time at 6:15, and when I couldn’t fall asleep by 6:30, I decided to get up. 6:30 isn’t the best time to wake up, but it could be worse, right?
Well, it was. I was reading that time on the alarm clock, which did not change with the whole Daylight Savings thing. But I was already up and about by the time I looked at my phone and realized what time it really was, so…I’ve been awake since 5:30.
I raided the vending machine for a Pepsi to get my caffeine fix, and I started writing. Because what else am I going to do at 5:30 on a Sunday morning? Watch infomercials? Pfft. (Ooh, I’m going to be cranky today…)
So the good news is my daily allotment is done. And I might keep going, because it’s not quite 8:30, and I don’t think my mom is up yet. But I am tempted to just sit by the window and watch the snow fall while nursing my second Pepsi. Decisions, decisions.
I didn’t talk about what novel I’m writing. Hmm.
Well, since it was a last-minute decision, I didn’t have time to whip up anything new. So I called on Dassyr. His novel has so many plot holes and missing details, but hey, it’s something. I have fun with him, as he’s a bit of a stream-of-consciousness character. But he’s coming across as a little crueler in this draft than in other bits. Maybe that’s a reflection of my mood. I don’t know. But I like it. Tricksters traditionally weren’t all laughing and happy. They could be quite harsh, especially if you pissed them off. And Dassyr was pretty pissed, after getting his butt kicked and then locked in iron.
Let’s see what happens later.
