Just a few days left until my very first market, and for once in my life, I’m not scrambling at the last minute. I still have a few things left to do, but nothing too…drastic. The biggest one is opening the damn shop. Which I can and will do today. Pictures are done, so I just have to type up the item descriptions.
I’m not looking forward to getting up super-early for the market. My mom is one of the two organizers, so she’ll be there about an hour before the rest of the vendors to arrange tables and whatnot, and I’m hitching a ride with her, so…yay, early morning.
Of course, there is the distinct possibility that I’ll just pull an all-nighter. Actually, that would be a bad-bad idea. The last market I worked was on a half-night of sleep, and it was brutal. And for that market, I was just the second body, so I could get up and wander around and hunt down caffeine. On Saturday, I’ll not only be the only one manning my table, but I will be keeping an eye on my mom’s table when she gets pulled away to deal with…whatever she has to deal with.
I also have my eye on a short story contest that closes March 1st. There’s no topic requirement, so I can finish and polish my automaton short story. I’m almost at the end, and I’ve been tweaking as I go, so…we’ll see what happens.
Maybe I’ll have to alternate between jewelry and writing days once things get up and running. Make sure I get a little of both done.
