I have to scrap my Camp NaNoWriMo plans.
Not just because I’m overwhelmed in terms of time (I am,) but because I’m now playing with a new idea for the novel.
One of the nagging problems I’ve had with the manuscript as it currently stands is that it takes a long time to build up to the main action. It’s not the worst problem, I suppose, as it shows the back story behind the whole ghost problem. But then Evan comes in, and he has to learn all the background anyway. So my choices are repeating information, skipping the first parts of Evan’s investigation, or cropping out Julie’s early scenes.
I just need to figure out what to do with Deirdre’s early scenes.
Time to mull over my options and mash the story into a new shape.
